"Slow down. Calm down. Don't worry. Don't hurry. Trust the process."
Alexander Stoddard
Through my years of practicing Ashtanga yoga this is what I always come back to. I began practicing yoga in 2003 and in that time have had the privilege of sharing my practice with so many fabulous people including authorized and certified teachers from around the world. I am continuously inspired by the dedication these individual have to their practice and this encourages me to trust in the process of Ashtanga yoga traditions.
It is a struggle for many of us to let go of our egos both on and off the mat. My practice continues to encourage me to let go of my ego and be the best version of myself rather than competing with others. We need to remind ourselves that yoga is a practice and not a performance or a competition. We must learn to slow down, listen and be kind to our body everyday and trust in the process.
I began my journey of instructing yoga classes in 2008. At the same time, I started working with the Calgary Board of Education in the speech department. Over the last year I have had the opportunity to combine these two passions of mine: working with children and teaching yoga. I have developed and am continuously expanding my yoga for kids and yoga for kids with special needs programs.
I am thankful everyday for all of the wonderful students and teachers around me to learn from and to share in the many experiences that yoga brings to our lives.
