Kim began her discovery of yoga in 1997, the same way many others do – at the gym, because we know we should be doing some stretching with our weight programs. Kim found it intriguing that despite working out 5 times a week the Ashtanga Yoga classes were extremely challenging and humbling. After a few short months she quit the gym to focus on a dedicated yoga practise and has never looked back.
Two Years ago, Kim developed her classes into what is now known as Strength & Soul Vinyasa Yoga. With the support of her students Kim released a dvd in June 2006 based on her classes. For more information strengthandsoulyoga.com.
For Kim, yoga has become more than just the physical poses. “It is about everything else it teaches you - focus, acceptance (of your own limitations and others’) and mind/body awareness. Yoga is not about becoming flexible or twisting your body in contorting ways, as hard as that may be to believe. The asanas (postures) were created to heal or maintain health & vitality by creating a little space & length in the body. They release tension, create joint stimulation, re-oxygenate the body and release toxins.”
"To me yoga is not so much about WHAT you do but more about HOW you are doing it."
