As gyms and fitness studios have been integrated into Phase 2 (with the ability to open June 12), we are hard at work making plans to reopen in the most responsible way. Our plan is to reopen as soon as we can, while keeping safety as a top priority for staff and students. Online classes will continue via Zoom simultaneously with our regular in studio classes. When we do open, the following will apply:
In order to reduce exposure to multiple groups of people and to keep the occupancy in the studio acceptable for social distancing, you will be required to sign up for classes in advance. If you fail to attend, there will be a fee (the spot could have gone to someone else).
In summary, some of the changes you will see at the Yoga Shala for your safety are:
Smaller class sizes with marked practice spots.
Limits on attendance to ensure social distancing.
Specific movement flows for entering and exiting the space.
Cleaning protocols and products following the approved list on Health Canada’s Website.
No hands on adjustments for the time being.
No props will be provided for class.
YS will provide hand sanitizer as well as a hand washing station for staff and students.
Yoga Shala Calgary COVID-19 Re-entry Plan
Each student will have a practice zone, 2 metres apart from other students, which will be marked with tape. Students will enter the studio one at a time, with appropriate distance.
Studio doors will open 15 minutes in advance of class start time. To avoid congregating, please go directly to your mat, and stay on your mat. After class please depart the studio promptly.
STAY HOME IF YOU ARE SICK:
Students and staff are asked to stay home if they are sick and/or have symptoms of illness (fever, cough, sore throat, sneezing, runny nose, headache, body aches, or general malaise). To ensure safety, anyone displaying symptoms of illness will be compassionately asked to leave the studio immediately.
If teachers or students are exposed to someone with COVID-19, or have travelled outside of Canada they are asked not to attend classes, and to follow Alberta Health Guidelines. Contact 811 for information.
Signage will notify students and staff to stay home if they exhibit any signs of any type of illness, including colds, coughs, chills.
Signs will remind students of the physical distancing requirements and enhanced sanitation procedures.
CONTACTLESS REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT:
All students will be asked to register and pay online in advance of attending class. (No in-person drop ins).
Please ensure your online information is up to date and correct.
Cancel (via MindBody only) without penalty up to 6 hours prior to class
After the 6 hour mark, or if you no show, a $12 fee will be charged to your credit card, or loss of that class from your account
Cancel via MindBody only; no phone or email cancellations accepted.
All waivers will be filled out online to eliminate the use of pens and clipboards at the studio.
KEEPING THE SHALA CLEAN:
After classes, teachers will disinfect floors and all high touch areas after their class. In the evenings the studio will be deep cleaned.
Students are asked to bring as few personal items (bags, accessories) with them as possible.
If possible, students are asked to change at home and use the washroom before they come to the studio.
Students are asked to bring their own clean yoga mat to practice daily.
No mats will be stored on the premises.
No props will be provided.
YS will use disposable hand towels and cleaning towels.
